St. John’s Riverside Hospital’s Pastoral Care Department under the auspices of The HealthCare Chaplaincy will be a host for Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE). Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) is an experience-based form of learning that teaches the art and science of pastoral care. The extended-unit CPE program is open to seminarians, clergy, members of religious orders, and laity. Criteria include the ability to provide spiritual care to others in stressful situations and to remain open to learning through an action-reflection educational model.
Registration is now open for both Full-Units and Half-Units for a 20 week course from Wednesday, September 19, 2012 - Wednesday, January 30, 2013 (flexible weekly schedules to accommodate applicants who may have other work/seminary commitments.). All units meet the ACPE standard minimum of 400 hours in length (full-unit) or 240 hours (half-unit). The cost of tuition is Full Unit: $850 and Half-Unit: $400; with a $50 non-refundable Application Fee.
To apply, use The HealthCare Chaplaincy application form, available at: www.healthcarechaplaincy.org/clinical-pastoral-education-cpe.html. St. John’s Riverside Hospital should be indicated as the clinical site on the application form.
