As nationally recognized leaders in the field with over 65 years of cumulative experience, the team at the Ashikari Breast Center strives to provide outstanding medical and surgical care. Due to its efficient and comprehensive structure the center ensures a prompt diagnosis and can often get pathologic diagnoses within 48 hours. The Ashikari Breast Center remains the only specialty trained surgical oncology group practice in the Hudson Valley and surgically treats the largest number of breast cancer patients in the region.
The Ashikari Breast Center not only treats breast cancer patients but routinely screens high risk patients and manages benign breast disorders as well. The center is known worldwide for a one-stage prophylactic nipple sparing mastectomy with immediate reconstruction which was pioneered through the practice alongside our plastic surgeons, Andrew Salzberg, M.D. and R. Michael Koch, M.D. This has given high-risk patients throughout the country a wonderful risk reduction strategy while achieving an extremely pleasing cosmetic one-step operation.
By centralizing critical specialties we give our patients access to the finest in the field. This includes a highly qualified group of physicians including Surgical Oncologists, Anesthesiologists, Diagnostic Radiologists, Medical Oncologists, Pathologists, Plastic Surgeons, Radiation Oncologists, Physician Assistants, and Patient Navigators.
In addition to excellent medical care, the Ashikari Breast Center is committed to providing personal and compassionate care with a focus on positive results. There is open and honest communication with the patients and their families and between other specialists involved in the treatment process. The Ashikari Team practices a holistic approach to breast health, which strives to heal the whole person, body, mind, and spirit, not just the disease.

Advanced Medical Technology
The Ashikari Breast Center, in partnership with the Dobbs Ferry Pavilion of St. John's Riverside Hospital, prides itself on providing its patients with access to the latest and most advanced medical technology. In addition to our high resolution ultrasound and digital mammography, we have acquired a new state-of-the-art MRI with dedicated breast coil that provides enhanced imaging for our patients and allows us to perform MRI-guided biopsy procedures when needed. Our new, on-site stereotactic breast table allows us to perform minimally invasive techniques for breast biopsy as well.
The Ashikari Breast Center now offers patients Intraoperative Radiation Therapy (IORT), a technique that delivers a concentrated dose of radiation to the excision site at the time of surgery. This one-time radiation treatment dramatically decreases the time a patient must spend in radiation therapy, post-surgery. This groundbreaking radiation therapy is yet another example of how the Ashikari Breast Center is committed to providing its patients with the most sophisticated breast cancer care.
