Finally, your baby has arrived! You now get to cuddle for an hour or two after waiting so long. The American Academy of Pediatrics and all the breastfeeding organizations are trying to impress on new parents and the staff in Maternity units, the importance of holding healthy newborns immediately after birth. This has been a protocol in most hospitals and now NYS has asked all Maternity units to include holding and cuddling as part of infant care.
