St. John’s Riverside Hospital created
this comprehensive, multi-million dollar Westchester Orthopedic Center
conveniently located close to home to serve its community. The center’s
unique approach to orthopedic care is based on providing patient
education, utilizing the latest in orthopedic technology and providing
follow-up care that minimizes orthopedic recurrences or surgical
complications. The center features comfortable private rooms in a
boutique-like setting, and the best part is most patients go home in
only a few days or less.
At the Westchester Orthopedic Center a seasoned team of high-rated orthopedic doctors develop a personal plan is designed for each hip patient that includes preadmission classes and education materials that will aid a quick recovery. The center offers anterior, robotic and traditional approach hip replacements.
Anterior Hip Replacements
Part of the patient’s personal plan that is designed may recommend an Anterior Hip Replacement. The anterior approach moves the hip muscles left or right to access the hip joint without cutting through muscle. The benefit of not needing to cut muscle during the anterior procedure allows patients to recover faster and have better long term results.
Robotic Hip Replacements
The Westchester Orthopedic Center offers robotic technology enabling surgeons to precisely place the replacement joints in the exact position needed with GPS® technology. Patients are likely to have fewer problems over time due to the exact positioning. Since the robotic replacements require only small incisions rather than the traditional open surgery that can require up to a 10” incision, this is a less invasive surgery.
Pain Free in Days
Since the center offers both anterior and robotic less invasive hip replacement options, patients will benefit from being able to recovery faster with the ability to move quicker. Patients are also benefitting from better long term results due to the exact GPS positioning of the robotic hip replacement. These procedures overall diminish the recovery pain to just a few days.

MAKOplasty® benefits the patient and the surgeon.
MAKOplasty® is a minimally invasive partial knee replacement procedure which uses a computerized navigation system. The system features RIO® Robotic Arm Interactive System: an interactive robotic arm and visualization technology that allows the surgeon to create a surgical plan. Using an initial CT scan, the technology creates a 3-dimensional virtual view of the bone surface. This virtual view guides the surgeon in how much bone to shave off, and the exact boundaries of that specific, damaged area. It also allows the surgeon to precisely align the implants. This technology will be used to help those who have osteoarthritis of the knee.
